“Without a Curse” Episode 538: “Scott Lauber Of The Boston Herald Previews The Offseason”

by Alex Reimer | Posted on Tuesday, October 30th, 2012

Hosted by: Alex Reimer

Alex speaks with Scott Lauber, Red Sox report for The Boston Herald. Alex and Scott discuss the John Farrell hiring, and the biggest differences between Farrell and Bobby Valentine.

Alex and Scott also talk about what the Red Sox’s strategy will be on the free agent market this offseason. Is the satisfied with its current crop of starting pitchers? Also, would it be an unwise investment to sign David Ortiz for multiple years?

Valentine was interviewed by Bob Costas on the NBC Sports Network last week, and Alex shares some of his brief thoughts about the interview. Valentine mostly spewed passive aggressive fibs, but he did have one point that shouldn’t be discounted.

In the “Around the League” segment, Alex tells us something the most significant thing about the Giants being on the verge of winning their second World Series in three years, and how it’s relevant to the Red Sox.

The Marlins fired Ozzie Guillen last week. It is obvious Guillen was hired because ownership thought he would attract crowds and draw attention to the team. It’s an absurd reason to hire somebody. Who else would do that? (Hi, Bobby V.)
